Exploration of improvement of clinical symptoms of endometriosis with mifepristone

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical effect of mifepristone in treating endometriosis. Methods Thirty-six cases of endometriosis were treated with mifepristone orally(12. 5 mg/d after supper everyday) for 3 monthes. Before and after treatment,the size of uterus and the cyst of endometriosis were measured and the levels of liver function, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteining hormone, lactogen, estrogen, pro-gestin, androgen were detected. Results During treatment the symptoms of amenia and menalgia disappeared, the size of cysts reduced (P 0. 05), while the indexes of sexual hormones changed little. Conclusion Mifepriston if effective to treat endometriosis with little side effect. The dosage of 12.5 mg/d is worth recommending for conservative treatment.
