CORRELATION BETWEEN ADRENOMEDULLIN AND ENDOMETRIOSIS

Objective To study the relationship between adrenomedullin(ADM) and endometriosis. Methods The ADM in eutopic and ectopic endometrium in 33 patients with endometriosis(study group) and in normal endometrium in 26 non-endometriosis patients(control group) was detected by immunohistochemical method. Results Adrenomedullin expression in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of the study group was higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(H=137.10,P0.01). Conclusion ADM may be an autocrine growth factor of human endometrial cells participating in endomembrane-vascular hyperplasia,blocking the ADM autocrine pathway may become a new target in treating endometriosis.
