Hybrid Extraordinary Transmission Structure for Plasmonic Light- Trapping Applications

Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we numerically studied a hybrid extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) structure including a nanoslit aperture surrounded by a parallel periodic rectangular grooves array in a thick Ag-film when a parallel Au-nanowires array was attached between the grooves. The effects of two types of rectangular and cylindrical nanowires morphology to launch surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) under normal plane wave incidence have been investigated and compared. These proposed hybrid Ag-grooves/Au-nanowires EOT system offer compact platform and could be used as nanolens in future solar cells and similar optical devices which need an efficient light trapping like nano-biosensors.
