Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of angiopoietin-2 in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis. Methods Immunochemical method was used to determine the expression of angiopoietin-2 in 40 cases of eutopic and ectopic endometrium with endometriosis and 30 cases of endometrium without endometriosis. Results The expression of angiopoietin-2 in eutopic endometrium of ovarian endometriosis was higher than that of normal endometrium(P0.05). There was a statistic difference between secretory phase and proliferative phase in the groups of eutopic and normal endometrium. Conclusion Angiopoietin-2 plays a significant role in the regulation of angiogenesis of endomentrionsis which is overexpressed in endometriosis. Angiopoietin-2 may play a vital role in the pathogenesis and development of endometriosis.
