Abstract
Catamenial pneumothorax (CP) is a rare entity of spontaneous, recurring pneumothorax in women during menstruation. We aim to discuss the etiology, clinical course, and surgical treatment of a 35-year-old woman with CP. This patient had right sided recurring spontaneous pneumothorax after two days the onset of menses. Videothoracoscopy (video-assisted thoracic surgery [VATS]) revealed diaphragmatic fenestrations and blebs in the apex of the lung without evidence of endometriosis. Fenestrations and blebs were removed with stapler. At 6-month follow-up, she did not present new episodes of pneumothorax.
