Once the undisputed leader in microprocessor manufacturing, Intel has seen a significant erosion of its competitive moat, primarily due to delays in advanced node development, rising operational costs, and aggressive innovation from rivals such as AMD, NVIDIA, and TSMC. Through a synthesis of industry dynamics, Porter’s Five Forces, ESG factors, and management restructuring, this paper assesses Intel’s ability to regain market share and technological relevance. The study incorporates both Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and Relative Valuation models to derive a 2027 price target of $56, suggesting upside potential under optimistic execution. While Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy and expansion into AI, edge computing, and foundry services hold long-term promise, substantial risks—including manufacturing execution delays, margin compression, and geopolitical vulnerabilities—continue to cloud investor outlook. The analysis concludes with a “Hold” rating, recognizing Intel’s strategic repositioning under new CEO Lip-Bu Tan but cautioning against near-term volatility in an evolving and fiercely competitive semiconductor landscape.
