In this edition of one of the best of American textbooks on diseases of women, many of the chapters have been rewritten entirely, such as those on endometriosis, ovarian tumors and the various menstrual disorders, and all the material in the book has been brought down to date by extensive reediting and resetting. The order of the chapters is traditional but logical, and this, together with easy readability, enhances the value of the book to both student and practitioner. The numerous illustrations are excellent and well selected, although some of them, especially those depicting obsolete procedures such as the Dudley and Pozzi operations on the cervix, might well have been omitted. By all the customary standards, therefore, the book may be warmly recommended. The only question would seem to be as to the size and scope of the volume.
