Operative treatment of endometriosis in the Clinical Centre of Kragujevac during the period 2004-2008.

This retrospective study analyzed surgical and clinical parameters related to pelvic endometriosis at the Gynaecology-Obstetrics Clinic of the Clinical Centre of Kragujevac over a five-year period (2004–2008), including operative approach and the extent of disease in adjacent pelvic organs. Among 88 patients with an ovarian cyst, elevated CA-125, and histopathologic confirmation of endometriosis, the largest age group was 26–35 years (56.8%), and radical surgery was most commonly performed, with adnexectomy in 53 patients (60.2%) and hysterectomy in 24 patients (45.83%). The paper reports that ovarian endometriosis was often associated with endometriosis in other pelvic organs, and its major limitation is its retrospective design focused on a single center.
