This review article evaluates markers of connective tissue dysplasia in 25 female patients with chronic pelvic pain and pelvic varicose, using laparoscopic findings and a physical examination assessing 65 connective-tissue dysplasia indicators. All participants had unilateral or bilateral varicose parametrial veins; nine patients (36%) showed thinness or defects of the uterine wide ligaments, while no other reproductive system diseases were found. The study reports that 96% had at least one dysplasia marker (most commonly migraine, asthenic somatotype, easy hemorrhage, and vegetative dysfunction), and that 85% also had dysembriogenesis stigmata. Relevance to endometriosis: the paper’s introduction states that pelvic varicose is associated with different gynecologic diseases including endometriosis, though the study itself focused on connective tissue dysplasia markers in patients with pelvic varicose.
