Abstract

It is estimated that 2 million women in the UK suffer from endometriosis and 1:10 women are affected by the condition. Endometriosis can cause dysmennorrhoea, cysts, adhesions and infertility; and in some cases can last throughout childbearing years, beginning with the onset of menstruation and lasting until menopause. Despite these alarming statistics it occurred to me that, to my knowledge, very few women with learning disabilities are treated for this condition. Is this the case?
