This study focuses on how to use the Arduino UNO microcontroller for graphical programming and hardware interfacing in VR environment. Through this approach, students can engage in the intelligent management of farms and traffic in a virtual setting, thereby gaining an in-depth understanding of the practical applications of microcontrollers and cultivating students’ programming skills and innovation abilities. We designed the course, learning achievement test and virtual reality system usability test for programming beginners The test results indicate that this VR software effectively promotes users’ STEAM literacy and computational thinking, demonstrating the immense potential of applying VR technology in STEAM education. Through this innovative teaching method, students not only acquire knowledge but also enjoy the pleasure of immersive learning.
