Poly (bis-2 dichloro ethyl tetra sulfide) was prepared via interfacial suspension reaction of bis-2 dichloro ethyl formal with sodium tetra sulfide (Na2S4) in the presence of glutaraldehyde (GLH) as a safer cross-linker instead of commercial 1, 2, 3 tri chloro propane (TCP). Also, the organic monomer (bis 2-dichloro ethyl formal) was prepared via a reaction of ethylene chlorohydrin and paraformaldehyde. The organic monomer was characterized by FTIR and GC-MS techniques. After that, the synthesized polysulfides were characterized using FTIR, DSC, viscometry, T-peel test, tensile test, and hardness. We found that using GLH compared with TCP to cured polysulfide formulation, improved tensile elongation, and T-peel strength, had no inferior effect on hardness, and reduced by a small amount in tensile modulus, and tensile strength glutaraldehyde 1 2 3 trichloro propane polysulfide cross-linker liquid polysulfide Full Text Additional Declarations No competing interests reported.
