Abstract
Objective:To study the relationship between intracellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) and endometriosis. Methods:The expression of sICAM-1 protein were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA) in 30 peritoneal fluid(PF) of patients with endometriosis and 12 PF from normal pelvic cavity/13 PF from non-endometriosis subjects with pelvic adhesion during the same menstrual phase. And then analyzed by F test and t test. Results:The expression of sICAM-1 in PF from patients with endometriosis was significantly higher than those in normal controls, but has no differences with those pelvic adhesion non-endometriosis subjects. Conclusion:The overexpression of sICAM-1 in PF promotes immunotolerance to implanted tissue in the peritoneal environment. In patients with endometriosis, pelvic inflammation may accelerate the developing of endometriosis.
