Correlativity Between Chinese Medical Syndromes and Interleukin-6 and Interleukin-8 in Endometriosis

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8) and Chinese medical(TCM) syndromes in endometriosis (EMS).Methods The epidemiological survey was conducted in 350 cases to make syndrome differentiation of endometriosis:qi-blood stagnation syndrome, cold-congealing and blood-stasis syndrome,phlegm-dampness obstruction syndrome,heat-blood accumulation syndrome,qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome,and kidney-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome.The levels of serum IL-6 and IL-8 were measured with ELISA.Results The levels of IL-6 and IL-8 in phlegm-dampness obstruction syndrome,heat-blood accumulation syndrome,qi-blood stagnation syndrome,and kidney-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome were higher than normal(P0.05,P0.01).In terms of IL-6,there were significant differences between any two groups except between phlegm-dampness obstruction syndrome and qi-blood stagnation syndrome,between heat-blood accumulation syndrome and kidney-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome(P0.05,P0.01);in terms of IL-8,there were significant differences between any two groups except between heat-blood accumulation syndrome and kidney-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion The Chinese medical syndromes relate to the inflammation and immune dysfunction induced by IL-6 and IL-8 in patients with endometriosis.
