A Commentary on Redundant Publication and Measurement Integrity in Literacy Research: A Case Analysis of Overlapping Studies
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
This commentary examines the extensive overlap between Liebfreund (2015, Reading Research Quarterly) and Liebfreund and Conradi (2016, Reading and Writing). The latter article reused the same participants, data, analyses, and conclusions with minimal changes, omitting disclosure required by COPE and APA publication ethics. Key differences involved the removal of two variables, altering results without justification. This case highlights the need for transparent reporting, full data disclosure, and adherence to ethical guidelines to maintain credibility in literacy research.
