Abstract
Adenomyosis is a common benign uterine pathology that is defined by the presence of islands of ectopic endometrial tissue within the myometrium. There are some main clinical signs of menometrorrhagia and dysmenorrhea. It's a complex process of occurrence and development of adenomyosis. It is connected to neoangiogenesis, invasion and proliferation of endometrium, hormonal abnormalities, lymphatic invasion and heredity. Because of the difficult treatment, there are several potential treatment options: medical(hormonal) or surgical treatment(conservative or radical). A treatment will be chosen based on the patient's symptomatology and whether she is interested in future child bearing.
