This brief communication highlights that magnetic resonance imaging is traditionally time-consuming but notes the emergence of shortened protocols that save time and improve cost-effectiveness without compromising diagnostic accuracy. The authors reference existing studies involving patients with breast, prostate, and endometrial cancers to support the viability of these accelerated imaging techniques. It is posited that similar efficiency gains may be applicable to other pelvic pathologies requiring detailed soft tissue characterization. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically discussing the development and potential benefits of shortened MRI protocols for its diagnosis.
