New science of wellbeing: citizens-built dynamic evidence base
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
This preprint outlines an upcoming critical narrative evaluation of a new source of evidence about changes in behaviour that improve personal wellbeing. Existing research and practice are compared to an innovative use of information and communication technology that has the potential to provide global access to education in locally specified changes in lifestyle which promote personally desired outcomes in quality of life. Volunteers from the general population contribute data from private experiments in their own lives to digital simulations that measure the effects of maintained changes in frequency of a locally prevalent practice. Combinations of multiple factors that disrupt maintenance of a positive habit or enhance it are also identified in individuals. The design of this automated system for networking direct evidence on what works best in everyday life is to be submitted for open-access registration and institutional ethical approval. The proposed initial deployment of the dynamic database of causation in real life focuses on increased emotional resilience under stress, happier personal relationships, and decreases in the fat deposits that risk long-term disease.
