Abstract
Objective To investigate the complications and the relative risk factors of laparoscopic enucleation of the ovarian cysts in endometriosis. Methods Retrospectively analyze 2867 cases of laparoscopic enucleation of endometrial cysts of ovary performed in the Peking Union Hospital from January 1994 to January 2006,including the early and the late complications. Results Complications occurred in 9 cases, with an incidence of 0.3%.The early complications included 2 cases of iliac vessel injury,3 cases of intestine injury, and 1 case of postoperative pelvic abscess. The late complications included 1 case of renal function loss because of unilateral hydronephrosis resulting from chronic ureter obstruction, and 2 cases of premature ovarian failure. Conclusion There are risks of injuries to intestine, ureter and retroperitoneal vessels during laparoscopic enucleation of endometrial cysts of ovary. The rare complication such as premature ovary failure may occur lately.
