Expression of Bcl-2 and Bax and their significance in endometriosis

Objective To investigate the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax and the apoptosis percentage in normal endometrium and ectopic or eutopic endometrium with endometriosis.Methods Expression of Bcl-2 and Bax were assessed by immunohistochemical staining.Apoptosis percentage was examined by flow cytometry.Results ①Expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in normal endometrium,ectopic and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis varied cyclically.②Bcl-2 expression in endometrium of endometriosis was stronger than that in normal,and in ectopic endometrium was stronger than in eutopic.Bax expression was contrary to Bcl-2.③Apoptosis percentage of ectopic endometrium was higher than that in normal and eutopic endometrium.Conclusions Normal endometrium cyclical change is related to apoptosis.The decrease of apoptosis may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
