The agrifood system has been destroyed, humanitarian aid restricted and food insecurity has reached extreme levels, amid dire public health conditions. In this context, the monitoring of food aid is highly contested. This paper assesses caloric availability, consumption and inequality in access in the Gaza Strip between October 2023 and September 2025. Combining food shipments and local production, average availability and consumption varied from the relative abundance of March-July 2024 and February 2025, to the extreme, collective food deprivation in November 2023-February 2024, October-December 2024 and particularly May-July 2025. Average caloric availability ranged from 7,166 kcal/pp/day in February 2025 to 32 kcal/pp/day in April 2025, while average caloric consumption ranged from 2,165 kcal/pp/day in February 2025 to 1,054 kcal/pp/day in June 2025. Such low average caloric availability and consumption, exacerbated by inequality in access, has both short- and long-term consequences on health, welfare and human capital development.
