Chronic Pelvic Pain in Transgender and Gender Diverse People: A Scoping Review

This scoping review aims to map the existing literature on chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals. The primary objective is to synthesize available evidence on the prevalence, causes, diagnostic approaches, and treatment strategies for CPP lasting over 3 months in TGD populations, including transgender men and women, non-binary, agender, and two-spirit individuals, across all stages of medical or surgical transition. A secondary objective is to explore how CPP in TGD individuals may intersect with cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social, or sexual health concerns. The review will consider studies of any design, setting, or geographic region, published from 2000 onward, to ensure comprehensive coverage of this under-researched topic. Findings will help identify existing knowledge, highlight gaps, and inform clinical care and future research priorities in this population.
