Solving the conundrum of choice of Knowledge Management Tools and Technologies in Software industry in India

Abstract

The choice of knowledge management tools is one of the most important issues for the organizations specifically software industry in India to implement its knowledge management strategy in the most effective way. There is a difference between simply letting your employees add information to a shared database and carefully curated and assembled knowledge, aligned to the business strategy. The goal set out for the present study is in two folds. First, this paper provides detail s of all type of knowledge management tools. Secondly, this paper also develops an evaluation criteria system using Delphi survey and Analytical Hierarchical Process to arrange several available alternatives, from the most important to least important considering their utility in the software industry. A criteria matrix is formed based on survey and statistical analysis which demonstrates the usage of specific tools that makes the flow of knowledge smooth in the organization. This study recommends knowledge management tools for software industry and also explains how they can get the maximum benefits out of it.
