코로나19 시기의 연애, 결혼, 출산 변동 (Dating, Marriage, and Childbirth Change during the COVID-19)

Korean Abstract: 코로나바이러스감염증-19 (이하 코로나19) 시기에 연애, 결혼, 출산에 대한 생각과 행동은 어떻게 달라졌을까? 국내에서 코로나19가 처음 발생했던 2020년 1월부터 일 년이 넘는 시간이 지나갔으 며, 2020년 2월부터 국내에서 백신접종은 시작되었지만 여전히 코로나19 위기상황은 진행 중이다. 이에 따라 연애, 결혼, 출산에 영향을 미치는 사회, 경제, 문화적 요인들에 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 그리고 그 결과로 연애, 결혼, 출산에 대한 의도와 행동이 달라졌을 것으로 생각된다. 과거 사망률이 급증했던 외국의 사례를 보면 위기속에서 출산율이 오히려 올라가는 경우도 있지 만, 코로나19로 인한 우리나라의 상황은 출산율의 하락 위험이 더 클 것으로 보인다. 그런데 코로나19가 출산력에 미치는 영향은 코로나19 발생 이후 약 일 년이 되는 시점부터 본격화될 것이기 때문에 그 실제 영향력은 2021년에야 드러난 것으로 예상되었다(최슬기 2020). 2021년 2월 통계 청인구동향 자료에 의하면 전년 동월 대비 혼인은 21.6% 감소하였고, 출생아수는 5.7% 감소하였다. 코로나19와 직접적인 인과관계를 이해하고 그 영향력의 크기를 측정하는 것에는 시간이 더 필요하겠지만 부정적인 효과가 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이 연구는 사회, 경제, 문화적 결정 요인을 직접 분석하기보다는 생애과정에서 현상으로 드러난 의도와 행동의 변화를 분석함으로써 코로나19가 연애, 결혼, 출산에 어떠한 변화를 가져왔는지를 살펴보고자 한다.English Abstract: How did the thoughts and behaviors of dating, marriage, and childbirth change during the COVID-19 (hereinafter referred to as COVID-19)? This study used “the Survey on Koreans’ set of values regarding marriage and family in the COVID-19 era” conducted on February 2021, about a year after January 2020, when COVID-19 first occurred in South Korea. The survey period was when strict social distancing in response to COVID-19 was maintained. At that time, the COVID-19 vaccines were developed overseas, but domestic vaccinations have not yet begun.To summarize the results of the study, the effects of COVID-19 on relationship, marriage, and childbirth were different depending on the life process. For couples with no children or only one child, "no change" in the relationship was the most common response, while negative responses were more popular than positive ones. Not-yet married couples were more likely to delay their wedding plans rather than advance them. Singles who have not a romantic partner were struggling with the new encounter. These findings suggest that the marriage intention and the birth plan would fall roughly by 10%p.
