Abstract

Abstract This article analyzes the effects of research and development spending on malnutrition. In this study, we use the generalized method of moments system on panel data from a sample of 53 developing countries over the period 2000 to 2018. The results show that spending on research and development significantly reduces. Similarly, research and development spending in different fields such as agricultural and veterinary science, natural science, engineering and technology, medical science and health, social science, human science and arts, negatively and significantly affect malnutrition. Our results also suggest that productivity and education are important channels through which research and development spending influences malnutrition. JEL : I10, O30, O50.
