Haemorrhagic shock due to huge ruptured hepatocellular adenoma

Hepatocellular adenoma is a rare benign neoplasma of the liver with incidence of 1/1000000. 95% of hepatocellular adenomas develop in women. Appearance of HCA is reported to be higher in conditions that alter normal hormonal status of an individual: OC use, anabolic steroids, danazol, klomifen use, glycogen storage disease. In male patients this condition is extremly rare and associated with anabolic steroid abuse. Spontaneous rupture is reported as high as 50-60%. We are presenting a case of a huge ruptured hepatocellular adenoma in a male subject aged 49 without any riskfactors, presenting with abdominal pain and haemorrhagic shock. After correct diagnosis has been made right hepatectomy was performed.
