Angiogenesis in ovarian clear cell carcinoma and its relation to endometriosis.
This study investigated VEGF and PD-ECGF expression in ovarian clear cell carcinoma and found a significant correlation between VEGF expression and microvessel count, but no correlation with endometriosis.

This study enrolled 25 patients with ovarian clear cell carcinoma and examined tumor expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor (PD-ECGF), correlating these measures with microvessel count (MVC). VEGF was strongly positive in 16 cases, weakly positive in 6, and negative in 3, while PD-ECGF was strongly positive in 11 cases, weakly positive in 6, and negative in 8. VEGF expression correlated significantly with MVC (p<0.01), but there were no correlations among complication by endometriosis, VEGF expression, PD-ECGF expression, and MVC. The paper is centrally about endometriosis’s role as a complication category in ovarian clear cell carcinoma angiogenesis, reporting that endometriosis complication did not relate to VEGF/PD-ECGF expression or MVC.
