Endometriose e Depressão: Interações Bidirecionais entre Dor Crônica e Saúde Mental

This narrative review examines the bidirectional relationship between endometriosis and depression, focusing on biological mechanisms and clinical outcomes. The authors analyzed recent literature to identify chronic pelvic pain as the primary predictor of depressive symptoms in affected women, mediated by neuroinflammation and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis dysfunction. While integrated pharmacological, surgical, and psychological treatments may improve both pain and mental health, significant heterogeneity among studies limits definitive conclusions.
