Abstract
Objective:To investigate the role of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) in adenomyosis and development of endometriosis and the relationship between VEGF and HIF-1α.Methods:Α total of 36 specimens of endometriosis and 30 specimens of adenomyosis were evaluated by immunohistological techique with antibody against VEGF and HIF-1α.Results:Expressions of VEGF and HIF-1α in ectopic endometrial and adenomyosis cells were higher thαn those in normαl endometrial cells(69.44% vs 42.31% and 66.67% vs 38.46%,respectively,P0.05).No stastical difference were detected between the expression of VEGF and HIF-1αin endometriosis and adenomyosis. Conclusion:There are close relationships between VEGF HIF-1αand endometriotic angiogenesis.VEGF and HIF-1α play an important role in the progression of endometriosis and adenomyosis.
