Abstract

Conventional ultrasound can easily diagnose polycystic ovarian change, hydrosalpinx, or endometriosis. With advanced techniques such as 3D ultrasound and hysterosonography, entities such as congenital uterine anomaly, uterine polyp, and submucosal fibroid can readily be diagnosed. For suspected pituitary adenoma, endometriosis, or congenital uterine anomaly, MRI can be utilized. The workup for female infertility can be complex. Often, ultrasound is performed to assess for structural abnormalities or to confirm polycystic ovarian disease. Advanced imaging techniques such as 3D ultrasound and MRI can be complementary to conventional ultrasound findings.
