The expression of midkine in ectopic endometrium of adenomyosis and its clinical significance

Objective To investigate the expression of midkine(MK) and the relationship between midkine,cell proliferation and apoptosis in adenomyosis.Methods The immunohistochemical staining(SP) method was applied to detect the expression of MK protein and Western blot was employed to investigate the expression of Bcl-2 protein in 24 cases of adenomyosis.19 cases of normal myometrial tissues were selected as control.Results The expression of MK was not detected in normal myometrial tissues.The positive expression rate of MK in adenomyosis was 70.83%(17/24).The expression of Bcl-2 were significantly higher in adenomyosis than that in myometrium(P0.05).The mean optical density(D) of Bcl-2 protein was 135.16±31.47 in patients with MK positive expression,which was significantly higher than that in patients with negative expression of MK 103.87±23.21(P0.05).Conclusion MK may induce the proliferation and inhibit the apoptosis of cells in adenomysis.It may be one of the indicators of the biological behaviors of adenomyosis.
