Assessing the Impact of Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation on Gait Rehabilitation in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract

Multiple sclerosis is still an incurable disease that has a major impact on quality of life, cognitive function and motor function. Neurorehabilitation which focuses on the plasticity of the central nervous system has emerged as a crucial strategy for treating the crippling symptoms of MS, such as exhaustion cognitive loss and movement deficits. This review looks at how non-invasive brain stimulation particularly repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation can help people multiple sclerosis walk more easily. Our goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of NIBS in improving walking ability lowering motor impairment and promoting quality of life for people with MS by conducting a thorough literature review. In addition to summarizing recent research this review identifies gaps in the literature and investigates possible novel uses of NIBS in MS rehabilitation.
