Value of hysteroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of abnormal vaginal discharge in young girls

Abstract

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of hysteroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of abnormal vaginal discharge in infantile and young girls. MethodsThe results of hysteroscopic diagnosis and treatment of abnormal vaginal discharge in 15 infantile and young girls in the age of 19 months to 12 years were retrospectively analyzed. Results Foreign bodies were removed out from vagina by hysteroscopy in 6 cases. Nine cases suffering from different genital diseases were diagnosed by hysteroscopy and treated appropriately. Among them 4 case were endometrial polyps, one case was focal endometrial hyperplasia, one case was uterine deformity and pubertal dysfunctional uterine bleeding, one case was cervical neoplasm, one case was infant vaginitis, there was some bedload in the vagina of one case. All of 15 cases had no hymen injury. ConclusionsHysteroscopy is the best minimally invasive method of diagnosis and treatment of infantile and young girl′s genital diseases, and worth of popularization and clinical application.
