Effect of gestrinone on the liver function,the lipid metablic parameters in patients with endometriosis

Objective To observe the change of liver function,and the lipid metabilc parameters in patients with endometriosis before and after oral administration of gestrinone.Methods Thirty-two patients with endometriosis,aged from 20 to 40,were treated with gestrinone 2.5mg two times a week for 3 months,one week post operation.Serum ALT,AST,γ-GT,total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C),Low density lipoprotein(LDL-c),were determined before taking gestrinone,having taten for 3 months and withdrawal for 3 months.Results After administration of gestrinone for 3 months,ALT,AST(P0.01) Serum LDL-C increased significantly(P0.05).Serumγ-GT,TG,TC were not changed evideutly.After withdrawal of gestrinone for 3 months,serum perameters,restored to the levels before taking gestinone.Conclusions Gestrinone can increased ALT and AST,which may not be good for lipid Metabolism.It is not advisable to take gestrinone for long term.After withdranal of gestrinone for 3 months,serum parameters restored to the levels befote.
