An Innovative Process Suitable to Produce Back Contact for CdTe/CdS Thin- Film Solar Cells

Abstract
Abstract A novel process, different in all steps from the common process usually used for back contact to CdTe/CdS thin- film solar cells, is described here. This process on the one hand permits one to obtain high-efficient solar cells and on the other hand the stability of CdTe/CdS solar cells increases. The back contact is made with a thin intermediate layer of CuxO in between CdTe and contact material, which reduces the diffusion of Cu through the grain boundary of the CdTe to increase the stability of the cells. The charge polarization in CuxO may be a major cause in contact application of CdTe/metal structure.
