Alshbaib This is a preprint; it has not been peer reviewed by a journal. https://doi.org/ 10.21203/rs.3.rs-4209817/v1 This work is licensed under a CC BY 4.0 License Status: Posted Version 1 posted You are reading this latest preprint version Abstract Given the need for areas with fluctuating rainfall to continuously estimate their pastoral load and the significant effort and time this requires, which often leads to a delay in the organization of grazing there, this study suggests to using the available data to estimate the pastoral load until more accurate estimates are available. This study used available data on the plant cover of Rawdhat As-Sabalah for the indirect estimation of pastoral load but did not perform field work. However, this study considered the sustainability of plant cover and avoided overgrazing. Therefore, the method used here to estimate the grazing load for the entire region was based on one plant species. The method estimates daily plant productivity by measuring the biomass of the daily growth rate of the vegetative part of the plant, considering the percentage of spaces between the leaves of the plant to be 50% on average. The results showed that it is possible to safely graze 41 tropical animal units in the Rawdat Al-Sabla daily during appropriate grazing periods for plants. Field work and estimating pastoral load by direct methods remain more accurate in advance of the method in this study. However, the benefit of this method lies in reducing field effort and difficulties. This is often a reason for delaying the process of organizing grazing, and this method helps speed up the process of organizing grazing in many areas, in addition to benefiting more from the available data.
