Abstract
Objective To investigate the factors contributing to the evaluated level of CA125 in diagnosis of endometriosis and adenomyosis. Methods 104 women undergoing surgery for ovarian cysts or adenomyosis were studied.Preoperative serum CA125 levels were compared between various pelvic conditions.Results(1)Serum CA125 levels did not correlated with birth and abortion.(2) Serum CA 125 levels significantly correlate with the Revised American Fertility Society classification scores(r = 0.2232,P0.05). (3)Serum CA125 levels in ovarian endometriosis were significantly different from that in endometriosis with multiple sites(P0.05). (4)Serum CA125 levels were significantly higher in patients with more extensive pelvic adhesions(r = 0.2712,P0.05 ) or adhensions of Douglas cul -de - sac(r = 0.2282,P0.05).(5) Serum CA125 levels were significantly higher in patients with severe dysmenorrheal (r= 0.3032,P0.05 ).Conclusions CA125 can be used as a diagnostic test for endometriosis, especially for the in endometriosis advanced stage, and CA125 is a useful marker for determining the severity of in pelvic adhesions endometriosis.
