This explorative retrospective study evaluated the psychological well-being of consecutive patients undergoing radical minimally invasive surgery for deeply infiltrating endometriosis with bowel partial resection. Using a self-created 10-item questionnaire assessed before and after surgery (retrospectively analyzing 75 patients under inclusion/exclusion criteria), the authors measured subjective well-being domains such as body perception, health-related worries and fears, negative affect, perceived loss of bodily control, and social understanding, alongside life quality. Significant postoperative improvements were reported across multiple scales, including reduced physical exhaustion, improved satisfaction with mental state and body acceptance, reduced negative affect and health fears, greater perceived control, improved attitudes toward life, increased satisfaction with female identity, and a marked increase in subjective quality of life. The study is exploratory and retrospective, with use of a pilot-evaluated, self-generated instrument as a key limitation. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it specifically examines psychological well-being outcomes after laparoscopic bowel partial resection for deeply infiltrating endometriosis.
