Endometriosis Associated with Infertility: Therapeutic Approaches

The controversy surrounding the optimal treatment of women with endometriosis is not simply a battle between the endocrinologist [11] and the surgeon; it is also the dilemma of choosing between expectant management and any active treatment [13–15]. Since Sampson first described endometriosis as a unique entity in 1921 [16], the most common locations of this disease have remained the surfaces of the most dependent intra-abdominal structures in the upright woman.
