INHIBITORY EFFECT OF (D Ala 6,Pro 9 NHEt) LHRH ON ENDOMETRIAL EXPLANT IN RATS AND RABBITS

The inhibitory effect of (D Ala 6,Pro 9 NHEt) LHRH(1) on growth of endometrial explant was studied in rat and rabbit model of endometriosis,as compared with nafarelin,danazol and ovariectomy.Chronic administration of 1 could produce dose dependent inhibitory effect on the growth of endometrial explant in rats and rabbits.This inhibitory effect was less potent than that of nafarelin,but more potent than that of danazol.When large doses of 1 were given hypodermally for 3 weeks,its inhibitory effect might be equal to that of ovariectomy.This inhibitory effect was associated with the reduction of serum estradiol concentration resulting from its paradoxical effect on the hypothalamus pituitary ovarian axis.
