Abstract

Thirty-five patients, referred for evaluation of pelvic pain, were studied by pelvic venography. The disease entities which were demonstrated include thrombosis, varicosities, ovarian vein syndrome, anatomic variations, and pelvic masses. The only complication seen in this series was uterine perforation with injection of contrast medium into the peritoneum. The technique, which involves myometrial injection of contrast material is recommended as a safe simple method of study for the evaluation of low back or pelvic pain.
