Abstract
Objective:to investigate amounts of serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and angiopoietin-2(Ang-2) and their roles in pathogenesis of adenomyosis. Methods: Forty-two cases of adenomyosis were treated with levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNS-IUS),the dysmenorrheal, menstrual blood volume, endometrium thickness and serum VEGF and Ang-2 levels before and after the treatment with LNS-IUS were compared. Results: After treatment with LNS-IUS,the dysmenorrheal was obviously catabatic(P 0.05),the menstrual blood volume significantly reduced(P 0.05),the endometrium becom thinner(P 0.05),the serum VEGF and Ang-2 levels were decreased significantly(P 0.05).Conclusion: LNS-IUS treatment can relieve the symptoms of adenomyosis. The high serum VEGF and Ang-2 levels may be involved in the pathogenesis of adenomyosis.
