Abstract

Objective To investigate the relativity of leptin and leptin receptor to endometriosis by detecting their expression in endometriotic tissue. Methods Leptin receptor mRNA concentration of endometriotic tissue and endometrium of 21 women with endometriosis diagnosed by pathology was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Seventeen controls were hysterectomy women with functional uterine bleeding.Radioimmunoassay(RIA) was used to examine serum leptin levels of two groups. Results No significant difference in the serum leptin levels was found between the studied groups(P0.05).Leptin receptor was expressed in both endometriotic tissue and endometrium, both experimental and control group.Significant difference was observed between endometriotic tissue and endometrium, including control group(P0.05),while no significant difference existed in the endometrium of two groups(P(0.05).)Conclusion Leptin and leptin receptor can not lead to endometriosis by affecting hormone metabolism in vivo.Maybe they are related factors in the pathogenesis of endometriosis as involved in the change of intraabdominal environment.
