Abstract
Deep infiltrating endometriosis(deeper than 5 mm under the peritoneum)is mainly found in the cul-de-sac,the uterosacral ligament,the rectovaginal septum,the bladder and the intestines.The diagnosis is mainly made based upon patient history and clinical symptoms.Gynecologic examination is helpful in making the diagnosis.Other important diagnostic tools include transvaginal ultrasonography,MRI,and transrectal ultrasonog-raphy.Surgery is the primary treatment for the disease.
