Methoden: Aufgrund eines internationalen Bedarfs wurde am Endometriosezentrum der Medizinischen Universität Wien (Level III) ein entsprechendes Fellowship entwickelt. Ergebnisse: Das ‚Fellowship for Endometriosis‘ beinhaltet folgende Schwerpunkte: - Abklärung, Management und Therapie Endometriose-spezifischer Symptomatik - Abklärung, Management und Therapie assoziierter Subfertilität - Operative Spezialisierung mit speziellem Fokus auf minimal invasive Chirurgie und auf chirurgische Strategien bei tief infiltrierender Endometriose - Wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit auf dem Gebiet der Endometriose mit Fokus auf Grundlagenforschung, Evaluierung innovativer diagnostischer Methoden, und klinische Studien - Lehre, Weiterbildung und Vortragstätigkeit Das ‚Fellowship for Endometriosis‘ wurde von der Stiftung Endometriose Forschung (SEF) geprüft und freigegeben; Die Dauer wurde mit zwei Jahren festgesetzt. Schlussfolgerung: Erstmalig konnte ein umfassendes, zertifiziertes Weiterbildungsprogramm zum Thema Endometriose etabliert werden. Der strukturierte Weiterbildungsplan wird seit April 2015 an der Univ. Klinik für Frauenheilkunde Wien, Abteilung für Allgemeine Gynäkologie und Gynäkologische Onkologie und Abteilung für Gynäkologische Endokrinologie und Reproduktionsmedizin umgesetzt. Durch das 'Fellowship for Endometriosis' soll die Aus- und Weiterbildung verbessert und die klinische sowie wissenschaftliche Spezialisierung auf den Themenkomplex Endometriose umfassend ermöglicht werden.
