Influence Factors and Soil Properties of Phenanthrene Contaminated Soil Remediation by Sodium Persulfate

Abstract
With the rapid development of chemical industry, a large number of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) enter into the soil, which causes serious soil pollution. How to use sodium persulfate(Na2S2O8 ) to efficiently remedy the phenanthrene -contaminated soil, and to identify the influence on the soil in the process of remediation has became the core problem. In this paper, the effects of different environmental variables such as temperature, water-soil ratio, pH on the degradation of phenanthrene and the effects on soil during the degradation of phenanthrene were explored according to the reaction efficiency of sodium persulfate. In this experiment, when the temperature was 60°C, the water-soil ratio was 20:1, and the solution was slightly acidic, the Na2S2O8 utilization rate was the highest and also the overall degradation efficiency of the oxidation system was the highest. Na2S2O8 oxidation system can effectively degrade phenanthrene in soil, and thermally activated Na2S2O8 degradation of phenanthrene in soil conforms to quasi-first-order reaction kinetics. In the process of oxidation of phenanthrene with Na2S2O8 , soil structure was destroyed, caused acidification, and reduced the content of organic matter,which also had a negative impact on soil fertility and subsequent soil use function, the green and sustainable remediation should be considered.
