Pattern deviancy aversion and Need for Cognitive Closure: Testing and understanding it’s relationship

In the present study, the relationship between Pattern deviancy aversion and Need for Cognitive Closure was analyzed. To this end, a sample of 332 participants was collected. Then, the reliability of the measurement variables was tested and the structural validity of the items that measured Pattern deviancy aversion was evaluated. The results came up with acceptable values of reliability, added to a good fit for the items that measure Pattern deviancy aversion. On the other hand, a small and significant relationship was observed between Need for Cognitive Closure and Pattern deviancy aversion, even when controlling for the level of neuroticism of the participants. In addition to a stronger, but also small relationship with the subscale of permanence of Need for Cognitive Closure with Pattern deviancy aversion. It is concluded that there is a positive relationship between the variables of Need for Cognitive Closure and Pattern deviancy aversion, especially with the permanence subconstruct, and that this relationship is maintained even controlling for neuroticism.
