Abstract
Objective:To investigate the PON-1 and MDA levels in serum from patients with endometriosis and its role or pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods:Testing the levels of PON-1 and MDA from 45 patients(test group) with endometriosis and 20 patients without endometriosis(control group). Results:The PON-1 levels in serum were significantly lower in test group than those in control group(P0.01).However,the MDA levels in serum were significantly higher in test group than those in control group(P0.05).The PON-1 levels in serum of the patients with mild endometriosis were significantly higher than those in severe patients(P0.05).There was negative correlation between the PON-1 levels in serum and the severity of stages(r=-0.544,P0.01).Conclusions:The results suggest that PON-1 levels increase in serum from patients with endometriosis, but have an inverse correlation with the extent of endometriosis. The changes of PON-1 levels in serum may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
