Abstract

Abstract A simple, rapid, economical and non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor for sensitive determination of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was developed based on a physical combination of carbon black (CB) and pure chalcopyrite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrochemical impedance, cyclic voltammetry and steady-state amperometric methods were used to evaluated the morphology and electrochemical performance of the modified electrode. The H2O2 sensor showed good sensitivity, reproducibility and practical usage. In the range of 0.1 ~ 100 mM, the peak current has a good linear relationship toward the concentration of H2O2, with the detection limit (S/N = 3) of 0.04 mM by using amperometry method. Both linear range and sensitivity of the prepared sensor were enhanced through the combination of chalcopyrite and CB. The results show that the synergistic effect of CB and chalcopyrite can improve the electron transfer rate and accelerate the electrochemical catalytic reaction.
