Abstract

[Objective]To investigate the process of premature ovarian failure after Triptergium wilfordii(TW) treatment, whether the ovarian function in POF mice can natural recovery or not after the ending of treatment.[Methods]After 15 days of TW treatment,we detected the serum level of E2 and P,and the indexes of uterus and ovarian. We also documented the smear of vaginal exfoliated cells.[Results]All mice appeared poor status of physiological function. The cycle of estrus in the model group became disorder as compared with that of the control group and levels of E2 in the model group were significantly decreased than that in the control group(P0.05).However,levels of P in the model group were only changed slightly when compared with that of the control group(P0.05).Uterus index and ovarian index were also significantly lower in the model group(P0.05).After ending of treatment, the ovarian function in POF mice could spontaneously recover and estrous cycle and estrogen levels returned to normal within 10 days.[Conclusion]Triptergium wifordii can cause premature ovarian failure and the ovarian function in POF mice can gradually recover 10 days later.
